Bona temporalia omnia quae ad Ecclesiam universam, Apostolicam Sedem aliasve in Ecclesia personas iuridicas publicas pertinent, sunt bona ecclesiastica et reguntur canonibus qui sequuntur, necnon propriis statutis.

Bona temporalia personae iuridicae privatae reguntur propriis statutis, non autem hisce canonibus, nisi expresse aliud caveatur.
§1 Tous les biens temporels qui appartiennent à l’Église tout entière, au Siège Apostolique et aux autres personnes juridiques publiques dans l’Église, sont biens ecclésiastiques et sont régis par les canons suivants ainsi que par les statuts propres de ces personnes. (= leurs statuts propres)
§2 Les biens temporels d’une personne juridique privée sont régis par les statuts propres de celle-ci et non par ces canons, sauf autre disposition expresse.
§1. All temporal goods which belong to the universal Church, the Apostolic See, or other public juridic persons in the Church are ecclesiastical goods and are governed by the following canons and their own statutes.
§2. The temporal goods of a private juridic person are governed by its own statutes but not by these canons unless other provision is expressly made.
